Reverend Herman Bing
Herman Bing is the
Senior Pastor of Carpentersville
Baptist Church, North Augusta, South Carolina,
of which he has served for twenty-six (26)
He is a native of Augusta, Georgia, now residing
in North Augusta, South Carolina. His early
childhood education was obtained from the
public schools of Richmond County. He is
a very proud graduate of Lucy C. Laney High
School. He continued his education and completed
a course of study at Friendship Junior College,
Rock Hill, South Carolina. Special studies
were completed at the University of South
Carolina and the Medical College of Georgia.
He has also attended Erskine Theological
Seminary (Master of Divinity Program). After
thirty-four (34) years of service with Gracewood
State School and Hospital as a Physical Therapy
Technician, he retired December of 2004.
As a staunch supporter of community programs,
he is a member of the North Augusta, South
Carolina Belvedere Chapter of the NAACP,
President of the Gilbert and Watkins Young
Men's Club, a member of the Abraham Lodge
of Augusta, Georgia and Vice President of
the North Augusta Ministers Conference.
Under his leadership, Carpentersville Baptist
Church has an active membership of four hundred
twenty-five (425). Also, during his leadership,
the congregation moved into its new sanctuary
and fellowship hall on February 25, 2001.
Several major ministries have been added
to enhance and improve the church and the
community and several parcels of land have
been purchased for future anticipated growth.
Pastor Bing felt honored to speak for the
Richmond County Schools 2001 Baccalaureate
held at the Richmond County Civic Center.
He was also honored to officiate at the late-great
Godfather of Soul, Dr. James Brown's private
funeral and performed the committal at the
James Brown Arena with the Reverend Al Sharpton
and Reverend Jessie Jackson.
With a great love for humankind, this is
exemplified through his love and devotion
as a husband, father, grandfather, family
member, and friend. He is married to Loretta
(5th Sun. 8:00 a.m.)
